Accolades for Cheddar
Cheddar was recently shortlisted in Somerset Live’s (Large) Village of the Year Competition and representatives from the parish council and community groups attended the awards ceremony at Edington village hall. Although Cheddar was pipped to the title by eventual winners Paulton the judges said how impressed they were by the community representatives they met on their official visit, the diversity of activities available in the village and the lovely setting of Cheddar at the foot of the Mendips.
This accolade followed shortly after the Sunday Times article extolling the virtues of Cheddar as a desirable place to live and the survey by Volkswagen and Waze which voted the drive through Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills as the most scenic in the UK.
