Great British Spring Clean

On Sunday 5th March Cheddar played its part in the national Great British Spring Clean event. Right across the country community groups set about collecting litter and tidying up their local areas.

In Cheddar parish councillors, members of the community and a keen group of lads from the 1st Cheddar Scouts set off in three teams from Kings Leisure Centre equipped with bags, hi viz jackets and litter pickers provided by Sedgemoor District Council. In just over an hour they collected more than a dozen bags of discarded bottles, cans, card and general rubbish from the Strawberry Line, Station Road and the path behind the school to Draycott Park.

Parish Council Chairman Peter Council thanked all those who took part, adding “Cheddar is such a beautiful place; let’s try to keep it looking nice. Use the litter bins or take your rubbish home, then we’ll all enjoy our village more.”
