Guidance for Cheddar Gorge event organisers

Traffic congestion caused by an event in the Gorge
Traffic congestion caused by an event in The Gorge

In recent years an increasing number of large-scale events have been taking place in the Cheddar area. To try and ensure that such events do not have a negative impact on the village, environment and on other people’s enjoyment, Cheddar Parish Council has produced these guidelines with the aim of ensuring that events within Cheddar and the Gorge are appropriate, well planned, well located and well organised. Such planning and care is vital to conserve the natural and cultural environment, and to prevent conflict with the interests of local communities, businesses, farmers and other visitors.

Important note about Cheddar Gorge parking – it is not a public car park:

If you need to use car parking areas in the Gorge, including along The Cliffs, these are privately owned land by Cheddar Gorge & Caves (Longleat Estate).  If you wish to hold any gatherings here (formal or informal events), please contact the Longleat Property Department on 01985 845414 or email to discuss your requirements and obtain consent from the Estate.
