The parish council is pleased to announce the projects supported by a community grant for 2024.
As in recent years, the council received more funding requests than budgeted. Applications from a number of community organisations for a wide variety of projects that supported all ages in the community were considered.
Funding was granted to Cheddar Youth Theatre towards new membership and performance costs. Cheddar Scout Group for equipment, Cheddar Vale Lions received a grant for their senior citizens party and Citizens Advice Bureau to support their Early Help and Prevention Service.
CHAFF were awarded funds for the annual Cheddar Arts Trail and Cheddar Cricket Club towards a new artificial pitch.
Cheddar Community Partnership also received a grant to help launch the Sing2Breathe project, a singing group to help those with lung conditions including COPD and Asthma.
Derek Bradley-Balmer, Chairman of the Parish Council said “As always we are really pleased to be able to support community groups and voluntary organisations with their work in the community. We know how much this funding helps residents of Cheddar and we look forward to receiving and sharing their project updates at the Annual Parish Meeting in 2025.”
The community grants are awarded by Cheddar Parish Council annually, the next application window will open again in 2025. Further information on the grant scheme can be found on our Community Grants page.
