Cheddar Community Pavilion at Sharpham Road:
Cheddar Community Pavilion is located at Sharpham Road Playing Fields, close to Cheddar Reservoir with a backdrop of the Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge. It comprises the original sports wing, opened in 2002 and the new community wing, completed in 2021. The sports wing has four changing rooms with showers, plus two rooms for officials and is used primarily by the local rugby, football and cricket clubs.
In 2020 work started to extend the pavilion, adding a large function room/recreation hall, smaller meeting room plus a bar and commercial kitchen, more than doubling the size of the original building. The project was part funded by the Hinkley Point C Community Impact Mitigation Fund, in partnership with Somerset West & Taunton Council, Sedgemoor District Council and Somerset County Council, with the balance from Community Infrastructure Levy received from new housing developments.
The new facility offers opportunities to all ages and interests, non-sporting as well as sporting and is available for anyone to hire, including clubs, businesses and private functions. There is parking for around 75 cars.
Function Room/Recreation Hall
Seats 96 people comfortably, banquet style at round tables of 8, or up to 120 people theatre style for presentations and formal meetings. The room is served by the bar and main kitchen. It is also suitable for fitness and exercise activities.
Meeting Room
Accommodates up to 40 people at individual tables for four, or pushed together for business meetings. As well as access to the bar and kitchen the room has a separate facility for making hot and cold drinks when the main kitchen is not required.
Kitchen
Commercial standard facility with serving hatches to both function room and meeting room.
Bar
Cheddar Rugby Club holds the licence for the bar at the Community Pavilion. If you would like a bar for your event please let us know and we will put you in touch with the rugby club. A minimum bar spend may apply.
