Annual Community Grants now available

Cheddar Parish Council is now inviting applications from local groups for community grants. Any Registered Charity, Voluntary Group, Community Organisation or agency that operates within the parish can apply for up to £1,000 to help fund an event, activity or project that benefits the community.

The council is keen to support projects in the following priority areas:

  • Environment
  • Crime reduction
  • Rural projects
  • Community facilities
  • Community activities

In 2023 awards were given to five groups: CHAFF (Cheddar Arts Fringe Festival) towards website development and the Individuality Project and to Citizens Advice Bureau towards enhancing the partnership with Cheddar Valley Foodbank. Girlguiding Cheddar also received funding for enrichment activities, The Space for Cheddar Youth Club and Cheddar Platoon for essential equipment and cadet training.

Derek Bradley-Balmer, Chairman of the Parish Council said “We are delighted to be able, once again, to launch our community grants. We’ve seen in previous years how important this funding is in supporting our local community groups in the amazing work they do in the parish.”

The Grant Awarding Policy and application form are available on our Community Grants page or by contacting the clerk. Closing date for applications is 3rd May 2024.
