Cheddar Parish Council is pleased to support the village’s application to the “Walkers are Welcome” scheme. Cheddar has long been a favourite destination for lovers of the outdoors and the area provides some great walking country. Our Cheddar Walking committee is developing a number of local walks to suit all abilities which will include the siting of geocaches in some of our interesting and historic locations, and is also working to deliver an annual walking festival here from 2016. Two of our parish councillors are part of this Steering Committee. For its part, the Council will endeavour to ensure that all paths within its area of responsibility are kept clear and properly maintained, and will also promote greater use of public transport throughout the parish wherever possible. It will be a pleasure to see Cheddar as the first site in the Mendips to gain Walkers are Welcome accreditation.
