For over twenty years Cheddar Festive Night has been held in early December for late night shopping and entertainment in the gorge and village centre. However, as a result of more stringent safety and security requirements it was not possible to put on the traditional full-scale event in 2023. Now, with more time on our side, Cheddar Parish Council is considering the possibilities for December 2024, and would like your views.
Is it time for a change?
Please tell us if you have any ideas as to how Festive Night could be improved. Is there a better time for it, or different contents? Is it sufficiently family orientated to appeal to the whole community? What do you like or dislike about the usual elements, or do you like it just the way it always was? We’re open to all suggestions. The only thing that is certain is that, if it is on the scale of previous years, there will have to be road closures. The police have made this absolutely clear.
Would you like to get involved?
As Festive Night has grown so too has the need for more business and community involvement. It’s a wonderful event for Cheddar and rewarding to help with organising it. Would you like to be part of a community team, including the Parish Council, to plan and organise it, and make it better than ever before? Or could you perhaps help at the event itself as a steward to patrol the pedestrianised area? We would ensure full briefing and support.
Please let us have your thoughts and suggestions, if possible by Friday 16th February. Email sam@cheddarparishcouncil.org or call 01934 743217.
