Cheddar Parish Council was delighted to award local groups community grants at their Annual Parish Meeting in May.
Any Registered Charity, Voluntary Group, Community Organisation or agency that operates within the parish can apply for up to £1,000 to help fund an event, activity or project that benefits the community.
The council is keen to support projects in the following priority areas:
- Environment
- Crime reduction
- Rural projects
- Community facilities
- Community activities
In 2026 grants were awarded to eight groups:
Cheddar Valley Junior Football Club; towards Mini and Junior Football Festival. £1,000
Cheddar Methodist Church; towards building the café kitchen area. £1,000
Cheddar Village Hall; towards 2026 Capital Projects Campaign. £500
CHAFF; towards the Cheddar Arts Trail 2027. £1,000
The Space; towards the Youth Club Refresh. £1,000
The Strawberry Line Society; towards restoring Village Strawberry Line GWR-style Railway totem signs. £260
1st Cheddar Scout Group; towards hut improvements. £1,000
Cheddar Vale Lions Club; towards the Memory Café. £500
Derek Bradley-Balmer, Chairman of the Parish Council said “We are delighted to be able, once again, to launch our community grants. We’ve seen in previous years how important this funding is in supporting our local community groups in the amazing work they do in the parish.”
